Garnet Rambles is a Scotland-based creative learning community bringing together geology and art through immersive, nature-based experiences. We offer a range of workshops, guided walks and programmes that connect adults and children to Scotland’s geodiversity. Whether you are visiting or live in Scotland, we aim to inspire exploration, creation and connection to the natural landscapes.
Meet Josephine,
our organiser and facilitator
Garnet Rambles was founded by Josephine, a geologist, artist and communicator passionate about helping people connect with Scotland’s landscapes through creative, nature-based experiences. With a degree in Geology from the University of Leeds, Josephine has long been interested in bridging art and science. During her studies, she began creating geology-inspired textiles from her own artwork, sparking a deeper interest in both creative practice and ways to make geology more accessible.
Now based in Stirling, with the Highlands on her doorstep, Josephine draws continual inspiration from Scotland’s rich geodiversity. Her professional background in communications has shaped her ability to translate complex geological ideas into engaging, accessible experiences tailored to different audiences. This foundation now underpins her work combining geology, art and outdoor learning.
Following the birth of her daughter in 2024, Josephine witnessed the positive impact being outdoors had on her. In late 2025, she went on to train as a Forest School Leader, deepening her commitment to learner-led, nature-based education.
Today, Garnet Rambles connects adults and children alike to Scotland’s geodiversity through workshops, guided walks and Forest School-inspired experiences, blending geology, art and exploration to foster confidence, creativity and connection to the natural world.
